Khayelitsha
Khayelitsha community house
Make A Kid Happy is launching a new project in Khayelitsha, South Africa, creating a safe community space for 150 children growing up in challenging conditions. Through two to three modular container classrooms we aim to provide a place where children can learn, play, express themselves, and simply be kids.
Building safety, creating opportunity
Container by container, smile by smile.
Khayelitsha is one of South Africa's largest townships. For the roughly 150 children this project is built around, there is little in the way of a safe, structured place to go after school.
The community house answers that directly: modular container classrooms that can be placed, extended and maintained locally, run together with trusted local initiatives that are already doing meaningful work in the neighbourhood.
We are raising €20,000 to make it happen.
The pillars of support
A sustainable community house that creates safety, education and opportunity, because every child deserves a secure place to grow and dream.
Safe community space
A secure community house made of modular container classrooms where children feel protected and supported.
Education & workshops
Spaces for learning, homework guidance, creative workshops and skill-building.
Play & expression
A safe environment for games, creativity and self-expression.
Long-term local impact
Supporting trusted local initiatives that are already doing meaningful work in Khayelitsha.
More than buildings
Alongside the construction we organise a MAKH Day dedicated entirely to the children: activities, shared meals, games and moments of joy. Because this project is not only about infrastructure. It is about belonging, safety and opportunity.
- Safety & protection
- Structure & stability
- Growth & development
- Joy & belonging
Step by step, container by container, smile by smile, we are building a safe future. Every donation brings us closer to creating a place where children can dream again.
