Our story
It started with one small idea during Eid in 2022. Today we are an official foundation with ANBI status, working towards lasting impact for children, here and abroad.

Every child has the right to happiness, appreciation and hope.
At Make A Kid Happy we believe every child has the right to happiness, appreciation and hope, whatever their background or circumstances.
Our vision is a world where this is self-evident: a world in which individuals, communities and businesses share the responsibility to support and inspire children in a structural way. Not only as a good cause, but as a lasting and responsible chain reaction that carries on from generation to generation.
Our work so far
From a local initiative to international impact
Since our founding we have grown step by step from a local initiative into a foundation with international impact. What started with individual projects and benefit events grew in 2024 into an organisation that looks further than one-off moments of happiness.
Over the past year we carried out wonderful projects with a lot of dedication and joy. We also learned that our ambition is bigger: not only making a temporary difference, but creating lasting impact in the lives of children.

Through the seasons

2022
The start: a small project
It began with a simple idea: every child deserves a reason to smile, even when life is hard. For Eid al-Fitr 2022 we teamed up with our community to hand out as many educational gifts as possible in the Netherlands and Belgium.

2023
Make A Kid Happy becomes an official foundation
After the summer, Make A Kid Happy officially became a foundation with ANBI status. A year of building, sparring, developing and fine-tuning, but above all of making children happy. It gave us the base to keep growing on.

Giving it meaning
With a young team full of passion we gave our mission a deeper meaning. We linked our projects to the core values of the foundation: staying close to children, working transparently and creating lasting joy. The result: countless happy faces, valuable partnerships and a stronger base for the future.

Course set for structural impact
With campaigns that get people moving, long-term partnerships and a healthy financial base, we want to do more than run projects. We want to build an ecosystem that keeps making generations of children happy.

Joy
Creating happinessWe bring joy by giving children unforgettable moments: a special day full of activities or the fulfilment of a personal wish. Small moments of fun have a big impact on the confidence and wellbeing of a child.
Connection
Building connectionWe connect children with volunteers, donors and businesses to create a community in which everyone plays a part. We do this through shared projects, events and campaigns that actively involve people. The result is a network of support around every child.
Hope
Giving hopeWe bring bright spots to places where there is often little to look forward to. Whether it is children growing up in poverty, refugee children or young people in difficult home situations, through attention, support and opportunities we show them that their dreams really do matter.
Growth
Encouraging growthWe believe in growth, for the children and for our organisation. For children it means new experiences, chances to discover their talents and room to learn. For us it means using every project to learn, improve and create more lasting impact.
Transparent giving
A registered ANBI
Since 2023 Make A Kid Happy has been an official foundation with ANBI status. The Dutch Tax Administration recognises us as an Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling, a public benefit organisation.
That means your donation may be tax-deductible in the Netherlands, and that we are open about how we work and how we spend every euro.
