Make A Kid Happy in Amsterdam
Where community meets compassion
Welcome, and thank you for finding your way to Make A Kid Happy and for your interest in our activities in Amsterdam.
How we work here
Engagement, turned into something you can point at.
At Make A Kid Happy we believe that everyone can contribute to the well-being of children in an accessible and meaningful way. Through socially innovative concepts we bring people together and turn engagement into tangible social impact.
Our volunteer network, in Amsterdam and nationwide, organises and facilitates purposeful activities for children across the Netherlands.
Our 2026 initiatives
The pop-up café
Our own Make A Kid Happy pop-up café. After iftar, visitors are invited to take a moment of rest and connection over a coffee or tea prepared by our own baristas. For every Happy Cup sold, €1 goes directly to initiatives that bring joy to children. Extra contributions can be made on site or online.
Discover Happy CupsHappiness Day
A special children's day at a hospital in Amsterdam, designed for children who, because of their circumstances, cannot take part in activities outside their immediate environment. The aim is simple: one carefree, memorable day of care, warmth and genuine happiness.
Support this dayWhat we have already done
Six activities, organised with our volunteer network across the city.
Eid Festival on the roof of Albert Heijn
During the Eid Festival on the roof of Albert Heijn we brought children and families together to celebrate the end of Ramadan. With joyful activities, treats and space to connect, a festive atmosphere emerged where children truly felt special. A unique location, but above all a special day filled with smiling faces.
Eid celebration at the asylum seeker centre
For children at the asylum seeker centre we organised a warm and festive Eid celebration, so they too could feel that this day truly matters. With gifts, games and shared meals we created a moment of relaxation and happiness.
Backpack gift packages
We surprised children with a bag filled with both practical and fun items: school supplies, small gifts and personal touches. For many children it is not just a new backpack, but a boost in confidence and a reminder that someone is thinking of them.
World Down Syndrome Day: cooking and baking together
A joyful cooking and baking activity where togetherness and fun were at the heart of the day. Children could take part at their own pace, explore and enjoy. A day filled with pride, teamwork and delicious homemade treats.
Drawing lessons by professionals
Creativity is a powerful way to express yourself. During drawing lessons led by professional artists children were given space to let their imagination run free. No right or wrong, only encouragement. For some it was a first introduction to art.
Farm treasure hunt
Children embarked on an outdoor adventure. With challenges, riddles and animals around them, learning and discovery became one big game. Running, laughing and teamwork were central, while children could simply be children.
